Crown Names New General Manager

Veteran PGA Professional Don White has been named the new General Manager at the Crown Golf Club Well known to the Northern Michigan golf scene, White spent the better part of 20 years in the Gaylord area at Garland, Treetops, Marsh Ridge and Michaywe.

 

White moved to the area last fall with his wife, Lisa and children Jacob (19) and Katie (14).

 

He joined  the Traverse City Golf Center in early 2011 specializing in Teaching and club fitting.

 

The membership program  for 2012 has been re-vamped and White hopes to attract up to 50 new members. Many of the annual outings and fundraisers are already in place for 2012 and combined with league and member play, the golf season comes with new excitement and much anticipation.

 

“I am thrilled to be involved with this wonderful facility, the management and staff and I am looking forward to getting to know the members and residents at the Crown,” said White. Stop in and say hello.

 

Mulligans Pub and Grill, Anja Gierlach

Mulligans Pub & Grill was established in June of 2005.  Since then the menu has evolved into a variety of signature dishes, such as our stuffed burgers and flatbread pizzas.

 

We have made a commitment  to stay open year round to maintain our relationships with regular customers and to attract new ones.

 

Speaking of pizza.  We will soon be serving traditional hand tossed pizza  with homemade crust and sauce.  Dine in or carryout fresh from our new pizza oven.  It is sure to be the best around!

 

Check out our nightly dinner specials Tuesday – Sunday.  Saturday is   Prime Rib, slow cooked and served with Baked Potato and Vegetable for $13.95!  The complete menu is on line at mulligansatthecrown.com.

 

Be sure to try one of the new entrees on your next visit.  We have a delicious Lasagna, made in house with a blend of beef and sausage for $9.95.  Or the Whitefish Parmesan for $13.95.  The 6oz. flat cut sizzler steak at $8.95 is going to be a new favorite.

Happy Hour is from 3pm-6pm.  All drinks are .50 cents off.

Golf Course Conditions "best ever", Pete McCall

I hope everyone enjoyed their time on the course this year.  We put several new pieces of equipment into service which made a noticeable impact on playing conditions.  A new fairway mower and rough mower provided a more consistent cut and obviously were never down for repairs.

 

Also, a new hybrid greens mower that operates the reels on electric power instead of hydraulics.  This means there will not be any leaks that can damage the greens.  The new mowing platform made for a smoother, faster putting surface.

 

We always try to provide the best playing conditions for our golfers.  With this in mind we will begin a bunker improvement project in the spring that will involve edging the perimeter for a nice clean look.  New sand will be added to create a consistent depth and texture.

 

You may have noticed that some of our tees are not as level as they used to be.  We will begin rebuilding some of these tees so that all players can enjoy a nice level teeing ground. Our course conditions should be the best ever in the coming year!
